Jamil has cultivated a lifelong passion for craft woodworking, architecture, and construction. From a young age, he developed management skills while working in his family’s businesses, Merchant of Vino and Merchants Fine Wine.

After earning a Master’s in Ecology from the University of Michigan in 2002, Jamil moved to Oregon, where he completed a PhD in Environmental Sociology at the University of Oregon. During graduate school, he taught classes and worked for various nonprofits, honing skills in programming, systems administration, and editing.

In 2020, Jamil returned to Michigan to pursue his interest in construction, working with Dave Eifrid at Green Life Building. The following year, he joined Jonna Construction as a project engineer. With the support and guidance of his uncles, Frank and Pete Jonna, Jamil committed to mastering every aspect of the construction process, from estimating to project accounting and management.
