Five star construction is established
by James Jonna in Southfield, Michigan.

1971

The company name officially changes from Five Star Construction to Jonna Construction.

Frank Jonna & Christine Jonna join the company.

 

1976

Pete Jonna joins the company.

1980’s

Handelman Corporation builds several locations nationwide including Michigan, Illinois, Arkansas, Texas, Georgia, Maryland, Florida, and California.

Jonna Construction completes the 240,000 SF project known as Michigan National Bank headquarters, including the longest clear span wood bridge ever built in Michigan.

 

 

1994

1997

The Vistas - Constructed a 100’ tunnel under Orchard Lake Rd in 48 hours to give lake access to homeowners across the street.

Complete Detroit Historical Renovation, the Garfield Building.

2003

Joey Jonna joins the company.

 

 

2004

The largest private Country Club in the Midwest is completed, Shenandoah.

 

 

2006

Complete Detroit Historical Renovation, the Graphic Art Lofts.

 

 

2009

Complete Detroit Historical Renovation, New Amsterdam Lofts.

 

 

2011

James Jonna, founder of Jonna Construction, passes away at age 87.

 

 

2016

Peter Jonna Jr. joins the company.

2017

Company moves its headquarters to Downtown Detroit.
